COURTHOUSE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WILL TAKE ABOUT A YEAR

With federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA–COVID relief) improvements, the Platte County Courthouse will see improvements in 2025.
The county is adding a courtroom for a new circuit court and upgrading/modernizing portions of the historic building.

Improvements will require changes to courthouse access. The courthouse was closed at noon on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024 to allow for relocation of security personnel and equipment to the temporary entrance.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 25, access to the courthouse is found on the western side of the county complex at the entrance to the Platte County Detention Center and Platte County Administration Office.

Jurors, citizens, and attorneys will go through security at this location and be directed to the courthouse lower level.

Access at this point to the detention center remains the same. Access to the county’s administrative offices will be adjusted slightly north of the existing entrance.

Signage will be placed to assist citizens during the project.

Residents can use the general address of 501 Third Street, Platte City, MO 64079 for Google Maps directions.

Parking is available along Third Street, High Street, and in two county owned parking lots adjacent to the entrance. If you are a first time Platte County juror, park in these areas and proceed to the temporary courthouse entrance where the security staff will be available to direct you to the jury assembly room.

The courthouse improvement project will take approximately a year and be completed at the end of 2025.

The county will update information as the project progresses at https://www.co.platte.mo.us/courthouse
