Clarence and Marie Crom recently bought the Western Auto Store in Platte City. They moved to Platte City in September, started inventory on Oct. 5 and opened for business on Nov. 5. The Croms formerly lived in the western part of Iowa. Mr. Crom was a member service director for the Moona County Rural Electric Coop. He has been in the electric business appliance sales and services for many years. The Croms will be having a grand opening now through Dec. 15. The Western Auto Store is located at 246 Main Street, next to The Landmark building.


Mr. and Mrs. Tom Maples and Mr. and Mrs. Curt Maples celebrated the anniversary of their marriages by dining out in Kansas City on Friday night.

Edith Taylor, who teaches school at Laurie City, Mo., was involved in a head-on crash on Hwy. 13 north of Warrensburg on Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. She is a patient at KU Medical Center. she is suffering from a broken leg, broken left hand, multiple fractures and abrasions, and her right ankle will require surgery.


Joe Keefhaver, postmaster at Edgerton the past 20 years, retired Nov. 30. Keefhaver will devote more time to farming and other interests. Mr. and Mrs. Keefhaver have one daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Wilson, and two sons, Jody and Mike.
