Students in Platte City Middle School are competing section by section to see who can earn the most points for donations of warm clothing to Project Bundle Up. Each section receives a different number of points for each type of warm clothing donated, with coats worth the most. The competition ends Wednesday and the clothing will be given to United Services. Pictured are two students from section 7-2, which was leading the contest on Friday: Tina Hattesohl and Kristal Benner.
The holiday season will officially begin in Platte City Saturday evening, Nov. 26 with lights, music, a Thanksgiving church service and horse carriage rides. Following music of the season presented by the community choir at 6:30 p.m., lights on the Platte County Courthouse, area businesses and homes will be turned on at 7 p.m.
The Platte County Pirates will no longer be the dominating force in the KCI Conference. This turn of events is not due to the loss of graduating seniors, changes in the coaching staffs or lack of enthusiasm by fans. The Platte County R-3 School Board decide at Thursday’s board meeting to leave the conference, hopefully at the end of the 1995-96 school year. R-3 is considering options, including becoming independent or forming a new conference.
