More than 50 interested people attended an open town hall hosted by Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser last Wednesday evening at Wexford Place retirement community, 6500 N. Cosby, Kansas City in Platte County. He touched on improvements the city has made in basic services in his time as mayor as well as on future areas of concern.
The North Platte R-1 School District will present a plan to construct a new intermediate school in Edgerton when they ask voters to approve a $6 million bond issue in November. School board members held a special meeting at the intermediate school Thursday to discuss options of renovation or constructing a new building.
Members of the Young Republican and Young Democrat clubs at Park Hill South High School placed nearly 3000 flags in the ground of the front lawn of the school to remember those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. “This is not a Republican or Democrat thing,” said teacher Shelly Evans, the sponsor of the young Republicans Club. “This is a United States of America thing.”
Edgerton was the place to be last weekend as hundreds gathered for Pioneer Days celebration to take advantage of dozens of craft and art booths, food, a parade, and entertainment as various as the Marching Cobras to a horse whisperer.
