Donna Giese, coach of the women’s slow pitch softball team sponsored by Wells Bank, is shown presenting to Jack Coots the third place trophy that the team won at the DeKalb Tournament in August. Wells Bank team members are Donna Giese, Jana Giese, Mary Brown, Rhonda Calvert, Shirley Davidson, Charlotte Buckler, Peggy Pruessner, Luretta Kincaid, Cindy Rhodus, Vicki Dennis, and Charlene James. The team would like to invite everyone to the women’s slow pitch tournament Sept. 7 and 8 in Platte City.


Last Sunday afternoon, Masonic Brothers visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Souther in Platte City to present him a 50-year membership pin from Farley Fidelity Masonic Lodge No. 389. Those making the presentation were district deputy grand master Marion Shafer of Edgerton, worshipful master George West and senior warden Bud Reavis.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Peterson announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jan, to Kevin Arnold of Ottumwa, Iowa. Kevin is a 1978 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where he majored in speech and broadcasting and is now employed with KTVO television station. Jan is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a B.S. in child and family relationships. The wedding will be at Second Creek Christian Church on Sept. 15 with the reception following at the home.
