Will the publicly-operated Platte County Regional Sewer District attempt to intervene? That’s the question this week surrounding the issue of the privately-owned Timber Creek Sewer Company seeking authority to expand its sewer service territory east of Platte City. Timber Creek has filed application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking authority to expand its service area to include an additional 2900 acres east of Platte City. Included in the new coverage area would be land targeted for the proposed Windmill Creek subdivision by developer Bill Mann.
An audit of the City of Tracy’s municipal court revealed the need for improvements in the controls and procedures for the handling of records. The office of Susan Montee, state auditor, has completed an audit of Tracy’s court. Both of the checking accounts maintained by the city’s court–a bond account and a fee account–contain unidentified monies.
A new survey of Parkville residents shows the number one issue on the minds of citizens is community planning and development. On the survey, the city asked residents how often they shop for certain services within the city limits. The answers with the most responses were gasoline and groceries. Another question identified six areas of potential development and asked residents what they think should be developed in those area. The first area is along I-435 from Hwy. 45 to Hwy. 152. The top answers for this area were hotels, business offices and large retail stores.
