A good-sized crowd turned out for the Downtown Platte City Association’s Hot Summer Night celebration on Saturday, Aug. 17. When a 120-ft. slip and slide wasn’t as slippery as hoped, the Central Platte Fire Department stepped up to lend a hand, spraying water onto the slide from above. “We just wanted a way for people to cool off while having fun,” said Sarah Rudis of the downtown group. “Thank goodness Central Platte Fire helped out. Overall it was a great event and the community really showed up.” Live music, food options, and a pyro show by the group Pyro Flow added to the fund.
