Contestants in the hot dog eating contest at Platte City’s Fourth of July Celebration in Downtown Platte City got busy with it for 10 minutes. The winner in the adult division, Happy Brosnahan, downed 14 hot dogs, while the youth division winner, Andres Rodriguez Moon, ate 7.5 hot dogs. Fetterman’s Deli sponsored the contest, which attracted a large crowd of spectators along Third Street just south of Main. Platte City’s Chamber of Commerce put together a successful daytime July 4th celebration on Main Street from 9-noon. The City of Platte City put forth funds to sponsor many of the activities.
