30 Years Ago–April 29, 1994

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hevalow of Smithville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lori Grace, to Dallas Lee Shipley, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Shipley of Archie, Mo. Lori is a 1989 graduate of Platte County R-3 High School and has worked for John H. Harland Company for five years. The future groom is 1987 graduate of Archie High School and is employed at AFG Industries in Spring Hill, Kan. The couple invited family members to a dinner at the Blair House in Louisburg, Kan. Their engagement was announced later in the evening. An Oct. 1 wedding is planned.


More than 250 Park Hill High School students will experience the horrors of an automobile accident caused by the effects of alcohol when they take part in an alcohol ‘awareness/drunk driving docudrama coordinated by Saint Luke’s Hospital Emergency Services Department on Tuesday May 3 at 10:30 a.m. The purpose of the program is to demonstrate to a wide audience the fatal results of combining drinking and driving.


Students in Jim Dunn’s ninth grade English class have learned that technical writing may not be as easy as they thought. They are shown here with parts to a tricycle and only parts of the instructions. As a group they must sort and rewrite the instructions. the class must then use the computer to rewrite the instructions with the original style font.
