A newly-constructed retaining wall in Parkville collapsed after heavy rains over the weekend. The wall along Brink-Myer Road was constructed in 2008 by Miles Excavating. The road is located southeast of the intersection of Hwy. 45 and I-435 in Parkville. The wall is near the new Stonegate subdivision. According to information by provided by the City of Parkville, city staff is meeting with Miles Excavating to determine the cause of the collapse. The cleanup of the area will begin as soon as the cause is determined.


A sexual assault was recently reported to the Platte City Police Department from an April 1 incident. According to a police report taken on April 20, the alleged rape occurred at a home in the 100 block of O’Rourke in Platte City. Platte City Police Chief Richard Sayles said the incident involved a male and female who are both 15 years old. Names were not released because both parties are juveniles.


Heavy rains over the weekend caused moderate flooding throughout the county with some roads being closed to traffic. On Monday, MoDOT closed several roads in the northern part of the county. The intersection of Hwy. B and Hwy. KK south of Ridgely has been closed near the Little Platte River because of high water. Also, Hwy. E is closed between County Road DD and State Hwy. B because flooding of the Platte River.
