FOR ASSESSOR, COMMISSIONER, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR
There will be multiple countywide candidate races on the primary ballot in Platte County in August.
The filing deadline for candidates was Tuesday, March 26 at 5 p.m. When the smoke cleared, it became clear there will be Republican primaries necessary for three county elected positions.
Following is a list of candidates who will be on the ballot for county seats.
Republican primaries will be needed at the Aug. 6 election for the positions of county commissioner in district two; public administrator, and county assessor.
Candidates in those contested races are:
County commissioner, district two (generally northern Platte County): Melissa Steele Moran vs. incumbent Joe Vanover.
Public administrator: Incumbent Shanna Burns vs. Samantha Price.
Assessor: Dagmar Wood, current district one county commissioner, is running for county assessor and will oppose Marcus Farr, who currently works as an appraiser in the assessor’s office. Current county assessor David Cox is retiring and not seeking reelection.
Republicans who will be unopposed on the primary election ballot in August include:
Sheriff: Erik Holland, who currently serves as undersheriff for the retiring sheriff, Mark Owen.
County commissioner in district one (generally southern Platte County): Allyson Berberich.
County treasurer: Incumbent Rob Willard.
ONE DEMOCRAT
The lone Democrat to file for county office is Charles McDonald, who put his name on the ballot for county commissioner in district one.
This means McDonald, a Democrat, will square off against Berberich, the Republican candidate for that post, at the general election on Nov. 5.
