Shane Smither is shown with his valentine box made over a toy Jeep like a U.S. Mail truck. Postmaster Billy G. Cox of Platte City supplied a picture of Shane and unusual valentine container to the US Postal Service Regional Bulletin where it was published. Shane is a second grade student at the Platte City Elementary School.


Mr. and Mrs. Kent Weigman request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter, Karla Kay, to Mr. John David Shaw on Saturday, the 10th of March, at seven o’clock in the evening at the Weston Christian Church.

Congratulations to these young men who represented Platte County R-3. Platte County R-3 High School had four wrestlers who wrestled in the state tournament at Columbia on Feb. 16-17. Skip Foster, a senior, took fourth place in the 185 pound division. His season overall record was 18-3. Matt Hunter, a senior, took sixth place in the 126 pound division. His season overall record was 16-4. Mike Sebetski, a sophomore, won his first match but lost his next match. His season overall record was 17-4. Scotty Williams, a sophomore, lost his first match. His overall record for the season was 18-5.


Howard and Helen Montgomery will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary this Sunday, Feb. 25.
