CASH AND LOTTERY TICKETS STOLEN
A 37-year-old man is accused of robbing a Parkville convenience store at gunpoint.
The Platte County Prosecutor’s Office charged Adidas Dawayne Madlock of Kansas City, Kan. with felony robbery in the first degree.
At 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, police responded to a reported armed robbery at Casey’s located at 6316 NW 9 Highway in Parkville.
A witness told authorities that a man, disguised in a wig, appeared behind the sales counter and pointed a silver handgun at the store employee. The suspect, described as a large male about 6’4” and weighing 250 pounds, removed a large sum of money from the register and vault. Before leaving the store, the suspect also made off with a large quantity of Missouri Lottery tickets, according to the allegations.
According to court documents, investigators contacted the Missouri Lottery and discovered that multiple stolen lottery tickets were redeemed approximately an hour and a half after the reported armed robbery. The lottery tickets were redeemed at the Grand Slam Liquor Store located at 631 Grand Avenue in Kansas City.
Authorities say video surveillance footage gathered from Casey’s allegedly confirms that Madlock and his dark-colored 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan match the suspect’s description and vehicle captured on video footage redeeming the stolen lottery tickets at Grand Slam Liquors.
According to the allegations, while Madlock’s face was mostly disguised in the robbery, video footage of the suspect shows him wearing the same identifiable black pants with a white emblem and back shoes.
According to court documents, Madlock has a lengthy rap sheet and is currently on probation for another felony conviction. On the day of the alleged armed robbery, Madlock had met with his female probation officer.
Court documents reveal Madlock is also the prime suspect in an armed robbery that occurred in October in North Kansas City. Detectives are still gathering information on the robbery, but are aware that employees were assaulted and suffered injuries during that alleged robbery.
Bond for the Platte County charge against Madlock has been set at $250,000 cash only.
