Downtown to get lit

PLATTE CITY’S LIGHTING CEREMONY IS WEDNESDAY EVENING

The switch for the Christmas lights in Downtown Platte City will get flipped Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in traditional fashion.

The 2023 Holiday Lighting Celebration in Downtown Platte City will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22. For many years, the holiday lighting has occurred on the evening before Thanksgiving.

The celebration centered on Main Street will actually begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.

This year’s theme is “A German Christmas.”

The flipping of the switch for lights on the courthouse and surrounding downtown buildings at 6 p.m. will be held as part of a ceremony on the steps of the Platte County Courthouse.
