SUBARU DRIVER CITED FOR CARELESS AND IMPRUDENT DRIVING

A Platte County R-3 School District bus was rear-ended in a crash in the northbound lane of Fourth Street near Myers Drive in Platte City on Wednesday, Oct. 25 about 3 p.m. Police said there were no serious injuries in the crash. Police said there were about 45 students on the bus, ranging in age from 11-18. Authorities said one student on the bus complained of leg pain and another complained of neck pain, but neither sought immediate medical treatment. Platte City police said a Subaru Outback crashed into the back of the bus while the bus was stopped with its lights on at an after-school drop-off location. The 38-year-old male driver of the Subaru told police he was reaching for a water bottle at the time of the crash. Sgt. Mike Mand said the Subaru driver was issued a citation for careless and imprudent driving. Air bags deployed in the Subaru and neither the driver nor his two teenaged passengers reported injuries, according to police. Authorities said the Subaru driver is a member of the faculty in the Platte County R-3 School District.
