The Smithville Warriors defeated the Platte City Pirates 15-6 last Friday night at Smithville in a conference game. Smithville scored in the second quarter when Reggie Coulter connected on a 51-yard pass from Bernie Sportsman, then Richard Cox kicked the extra point to cap a 99-yard drive in 12 plays.

The first equipment moved into the new three-story addition to Spelman Memorial Hospital, Smithville, was in the radiology department. At mid-October, craftsmen had completed their work, wiring the largest of the four rooms, with the capacity for such special procedures as dye studies. It will be a radiologic/fluoroscopic area, equipment with a TV screen and a rapid film changer cassette capable of producing up to three films a minute.

J.W. “Skip” Tinnen, editor and publisher of the Plattsburg Leader, has been elected to the board of directors of Spelman Memorial Hospital, according to Garnett M. Peters II, president of the board.

This year, the Platte County R-3 Marching Pirates have taken a new look. The band is complemented by a four-member flag corps and a new lead banner. These items and the outfits worn by the flag girls were purchased with funds earned from last year’s candle sale.
