45 Years Ago–Sept. 15, 1978

The Platte City Pirates rallied late in the fourth quarter to defeat Oak Grove in a non-conference football game 13-0 last Friday night. Tonight, Plattsburg comes to Platte City for a 7:30 kickoff.


Parkville Fine Arts Association will hold its annual “Country Fair” Oct. 6 through Oct. 14. The site will again be the picturesque Bell Road Barn in Parkville. Guests are free to leisurely select their own itinerary of lunch, brows through the Christmas House or simply enjoy the beautiful fall foliage in the relaxing atmosphere of the country adjacent to an old riverboat town. In the interest of encouraging growing numbers of areas artists and craftsmen to display their talents, the Parkville Fine Arts Association, a non-profit organization, operates the Country Gallery on Main Street in Parkville throughout the year. Each month a guest artist is featured and throughout the year a varied assortment of original art items are available.


Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ferguson and sons and the Jack Cox family hosted a pig roast for the neighborhood and friends Saturday night at the Fergusons with guests bringing a covered dish. Children ran rampant and adults enjoyed a relaxing evening visiting and eating, eating, and eating.
