Week One is wrapped up, and what a week it was! It’s wonderful to see so many new faces in 2023, and a warm welcome back the familiar participants from 2022.
First, some news that has everyone talking: Aaron Rodgers of the Jets, who was a significant part of the team’s Super Bowl aspirations, appears to be out for the 2023 season with a serious Achilles tendon injury. Those relying on the Jets for a Super Bowl win or pick’em dominance should keep a close eye on updates – this changes the dynamics.
Now, to the Chiefs. Many pick’em participants had high hopes, possibly due to local loyalty. Despite Travis Kelce’s absence and a shift in the offensive rhythm, Mahomes showcased versatility by connecting with 11 different receivers. Yet, the challenges were evident, leading to the Chiefs’ first season-opening loss since 2014. For our pick’em players, this unexpected outcome underscores the game’s unpredictability and suggests a more varied picking strategy in the future.
