ABOUT FIVE MILES EAST OF PLATTE CITY

This coming weekend, an open house that will give the public an opportunity to tour the mine will be held at the Martin Marietta Stamper Mine located east of Platte City.

The event is set for Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Stamper Mine located at 13500 Interurban Road, Kansas City, Mo. 64163, about five miles east of Platte City.
Activities will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is a free event.

“We are proud of our relationship with neighbors, customers and vendors and look forward to having everyone in attendance,” Martin Marietta officials said in a press announcement of the event.

Attendees can tour the mine and see the equipment up-close and in-person. A free lunch for everyone in attendance will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will consist of hot dogs, chips, and beverages.

Organizers say this event is for all ages, and the public is invited to bring family and friends.

For further information, call the Stamper Mine at 816-464-2768.

The company will also be hosting its annual coat drive during this event. Consider bringing gently used coats, hats and gloves, or monetary donations for local families in need this fall.
