At an emergency meeting of the Platte County Fair Board on July 8, those present made a decision to postpone the 1993 Platte County Fair due to severe flooding in the area. “The 130th Annual Platte County Fair, originally scheduled for July 13 through July 17, has been rescheduled to Aug. 24 through Aug. 28,” announced Carl M. Myers, M.D. 1993 chairman of the fair board. “A portion of the fairgrounds, located in Tracy, is currently under water. This would so severely curtail fair activities that we felt it was best to either cancel or reschedule the event. Because the fair board is committed to providing the people of Platte County and surrounding areas with a quality, family-oriented fair, we wanted to do everything possible to still carry out our plans.”
