The severe windstorm last Saturday night caused a lot of tree limbs to fall in streets, yards and various other places including the electric wires. The lights were out for several hours before the damage could be repaired.

Today, Friday, July 14, 1978, a copy of The Landmark dated July 14, Volume 114, No. 3 will be sealed in the time capsule in the Platte County Courthouse lobby. Among the items found in the contents of the first cornerstone placed in the Platte County Courthouse when it was built in 1866 was a copy of The Landmark, dated June 1, 1866, Volume 1, No. 37.

The First Baptist Church of Platte City was the setting for the candlelight wedding June 17 of Teresa Lea White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lee White of Platte City, to Douglas Keith Gutshall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gutshall of Chillicothe. Rev. Don Palmer of Chillicothe officiated at the double ring ceremony. The reception followed at the Airport Holiday Inn. The couple is now at home in Maysville, where the groom will be a vocational agriculture instructor.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Nye spent the weekend in St. Louis. When they got home they found a big tree on their house with damage to the living room, bathroom and roof. In fact, there are trees down all over Dearborn with damage to a number of roofs of houses and cars.
