Liberal meltdown over Supreme Court decisions
I have truly enjoyed the liberal meltdown over recent Supreme Court decisions. As President Obama once admonished us, “elections have consequences” and that 2016 one is going to hurt for a bit if you’re liberal and don’t like Supreme Court decisions.
Honestly, that’s really not applicable. It has become lost on much of this country that the Supreme Court interprets the Constitution and law, not policy. The media feeds this nonsense with constant polls around court decisions, like, “Do you think that the Supreme Court should allow student loans to be charged off?”
Of course, people support that policy, but the court only rendered a decision on the legality of the president to discharge such debt, not whether it is a good idea.
For the rest of the year, my pronoun is USA. Feeling patriotic and such.
I’ve got a long-time friend that is 60ish or so. He lived much of his life on the edge. Worked hard, played hard and such. Anyway, when we laugh about some of his travails from years back, he usually remarks, “Guy, I’m glad those days are over.”
I’ve kind of adopted a similar philosophy as I do not have much of a bucket list, but I have started a “I’ll never do that again” list that is very comforting to me. For example. I will never, ever go to Worlds of Fun again. I’m very happy about this development. Walking is often enough of a balance challenge that I don’t need to stand in line to ride a roller coaster and I suspect I’ve used up much of the dopamine left in my system on various pursuits that are no thrills left to cultivate that would make any of it worthwhile.
I once drove a houseboat and ran it into a dock at the Lake of the Ozarks. I’ve decided that I will never drive a houseboat again and I’m good with that, you can lay me to rest with that knowledge, should you be placed in charge of such tasks.
Anyway, I highly recommend reverse bucket lists, the expectations are much lower than real bucket lists.
Foley mandated that I work on the 4th of July to write this column. I’ve drawn up the paperwork to file an employment complaint with the state. He promised me to double my pay for the holiday work, but he’s not been reliable on that front, so I’m going to get me a pro bono lawyer and see if I can make bank.
Pro bono lawyers are cool, but I kind of object to the demeaning use of Sonny’s surname. Sonny was probably the greatest singer of our generation, and he should not be associated with lawyers. Just because he was a bad skier should not bring such scorn on his name. For God’s sake, he raised Cher, can we not have some dignity in this country?
I have digressed. Gotta sober up to get this column done.
Probably going to sober up tomorrow and decide not to file the suit against Foley. He always buys my beer at the Pool Hall and he doesn’t gay shame me for drinking Bud Light, can’t really hate on a guy like that. He also has a bunch of important lawyers in his desktop Rolodex. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
