Because of increased traffic on Hwy. 92 due to I-29 work, Platte City police are on traffic patrol at Fourth and Hwy. 92. An officer will be posted at that location each weekday from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. On Saturdays they will be on duty from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.


Mr. and Mrs. Phillip White of Kansas City have announced the engagement of their daughter, Patricia Annette to Billy Shawn Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Edwards of Dearborn. The bride-to-be is a 1984 graduate of Central Missouri State University. She teaches for Weston Head Start. The groom is a 1981 graduate of North Platte High School. He is employed at TWA. The wedding is set for Aug. 7, 1993. After a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple will be living in Dearborn. All friends and relatives are invited.


The North Platte R-1 School Board has adopted a tentative budget of $3.2 million for the 1993-94 school year. The action was taken at the board’s regular meeting last week. Dr. Francis Moran, R-1 superintendent, said it is a balanced budget between revenues and expenditures.


“Food for Thought” is the theme of the summer school classes being held at North Platte Elementary School in Camden Point. These students are learning how life expectancy is influenced by the food we eat, healthy habits and heredity.
