A plan for a controversial proposed development about four miles east of Platte City has been pulled off the table, but proponents are saying a similar proposal is on the way. Lakes at Tomahawke Ridge, which first came to public light in January, called for up to 686 homes to be built along Hwy. 92 near Winan Road just west of Interurban. The item was scheduled to be heard next week by the Platte County Planning and Zoning Commission but was withdrawn Tuesday at about noon.
The Southern Platte County Ambulance Board has begun discussing measures to deal with the recently passed Senate Bill 711. The bill requites local taxing entities to roll back their levies during reassessment years if needed to avoid a windfall of income as a result of the reassessment. The ambulance board began to discuss possibly raising their current levy from the current eight cents to perhaps as high as 14 cents.
Platte City’s public works crew were on Main Street on Tuesday finishing painting of some parking spots and crosswalks. The rearrangement and narrowing of parking spots along Main Street has created an additional 23 parking spots to the previously existing 179.
The Hook ’Em High Bull Riding Event produced by Taylor and Sons Rodeo Bulls out of Weston, was held last weekend at the Platte County Fairgrounds.
