Landmark English Award

Hailey Davis

RECIPIENT RECIPIENT RECEIVES $500

Hailey Davis daughter of Tony and Heather Davis of Platte City, is this year’s winner of The Landmark English Award, an annual financial scholarship given by The Landmark Newspaper to a graduating senior at Platte County High School. Hailey gets $500 in the form of a $250 check from the newspaper and $250 in cash from an anonymous Landmark reader who matches the newspaper’s award amount each year. Courtesy of the author, sales of Bill Hankins’ Landmark People books throughout the year help fund the award. The Landmark English Award was established by the newspaper in 1982 to foster an interest in the English language. The winner is chosen by a faculty panel at the high school. Hailey has plans to attend Johnson County Community College in Overland Park to study dental hygiene. She has served an internship with Dr. Stacy Blaha at Platte Valley Dental Care in Platte City. The Landmark began giving the award annually in 1982.
