THE KRAUSE MINI MANSION
The Platte County Historical Society would like to honor local centenarians (anyone who is already 100 years old or will be in the coming few years), and anyone who participated in the restoration of or has a family connection to the Krause Mini Mansion, today’s Ben Ferrel Platte County Museum at 220 Ferrel Street, Platte City. The museum is now open for the summer season and preparing for the mini mansion’s 140th Birthday Celebration on June 24. The historical society also hopes to locate the artist “Jan Albert” who painted the Krause Mini Mansion in 1977 (show). Her work will be highlighted as part of a Plein Air painting of the historic Krause Mansion on June 23-24, an event sponsored by Platte City Friends of the Arts (registration for artists at their website). If you can assist with information on these items or have photos of the museum/Krause mini mansion from past decades, please call the museum curator, Lisa (816) 304-1627.
