City of Parkville officials are hopeful this traffic triangle at the intersection of Hwy. 9 at East Street and First Street in downtown Parkville can get redesigned and reconstructed in the future, in part with revenues the city hopes to raise through passage of a use tax that is on the Tuesday, April 4 ballot. City officials estimate the use tax, which would be applied to goods and services purchased from online and out-of-state vendors, would bring in $250,000 to $300,000 per year. These revenues would help provide the required local match for federal grants through the recently passed infrastructure legislation, city officials say. Improvements to Bell Road, including sidewalks, are also in a future plan. The use tax is on Tuesday’s ballot in Parkville along with a half cent sales tax for public safety. Both questions require a simple majority for passage.
