Miss Grace Ann McLain and Clifford Northern were united in marriage by the Rev. Lester Weeks at the First Christian Church in Platte City on Saturday evening, Jan. 21. The parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Charles McLain and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Northern, all of Platte City.


Mrs. Steve Good and Crystal Annette returned home Wednesday from a Kansas City hospital. Crystal Annette weighed six pounds, 14.5 ounces and was born Jan. 15. Her grandfather, Archie Smith, was also born on this date.

Airman Richard L. Lacy, whose mother is Mrs. Marilyn K. Depriest, of Edgerton, has been assigned to Lowry AFB, Colo., after completing Air Force basic training.


Platte County Circuit Judge John M. Yeaman has found Mark E. Sager competent to stand trial for capital murder in the Sept. 2 death of Julie Wittmeyer. Sager’s trial is set for March 21 in Columbia on a change of venue from Platte County. Judge Yeaman is scheduled to hear the case.


Congressman Tom Coleman, R-Mo., will visit with students at five North Missouri high schools through his Washington Classroom program in the coming weeks. Coleman will be visiting Park Hill High School on Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 10-11 a.m.
