Woman killed in I-29 crash north of Platte City

TWO VEHICLES INVOLVED

A fatality crash on Interstate 29 north of Platte City on Wednesday, Dec. 28, forced northbound lanes of the interstate to close and diverted traffic over to Hwy. 371 during the crash investigation.

Killed in the crash, which occurred at 7 a.m. on Dec. 28 was 41-year-old Jill L. Buxton of Kansas City.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Buxton was northbound about two miles north of Platte City when her 2020 Isuzu struck the rear of a 1999 Peterbilt rig.

The Peterbilt was driven by Nathaniel Hill, 82, of Bolivar, Tenn. Hill was not injured in the crash.

The highway patrol says Buxton was pronounced dead at the scene by a Northland Regional Ambulance District paramedic.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol report.
