45 Years Ago–Dec. 2, 1977

At noon Tuesday, Platte County judges Henry Miller and Charles Kutz removed and opened the metal box found embedded in a limestone foundation block of the Platte County Courthouse. The cornerstone was set in the building on June 20, 1866 with lavish ceremonies. Among the contents was a copy of The Landmark dated June 15, 1866, Volume 1 No. 37.


Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Babcock will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception on Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Weatherby Lake Club House.


The United Methodist Church chancel will present John W. Peterson’s Christmas Cantata “Night of Miracles” on Dec. 11 at the 10:45 a.m. worship service and again in the evening at 7:30 p.m.


The Fort Leavenworth Musettes are holding their seventh annual open house Sunday, Dec. 4, in the Post Museum. This year’s festivities, free and open to the public, are highlighted by the giveaway of two Victorian-style doll houses.


Mr. and Mrs. Larry Alexander of Bloomingdale, Minn. and Mr. and Mrs. Don Bialczak of Warrensburg spent Thanksgiving holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Alexander.
