Investigators this week are still trying to piece together evidence to determine what caused the crash of a Cessna 150 single engine airplane into a Platte County wheat field Saturday, resulting in the deaths of two men. The two victims in the plane were identified as Terrence Francis Halloran, 47, the pilot, of Gladstone, and Scott Arther MacDonald, 24, of Kansas City. The plane was taking aerial photos and performing landing maneuvers when it crashed about a mile southwest of a private airport near Waldron.
On Wednesday, Nov. 25, Donald J. “Sonny” Haugland, owner of three Saturn dealerships in Kansas City, presented the keys to a 1991 Saturn SL2 to John Hall, director of the Platte County Vocational Technical School.
Platte City Mayor Pearl Brown on Monday signed a proclamation declaring the month of December as Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness Month. Witnessing the signing were Terry Hart, principal at Platte City Middle School, and Alan Lowry, police chief.
A ribbon cutting was held recently to welcome a new business to Platte City. “Nearly New Consignments” is owned by Brad and Terry Clark. The store, located at Second St. and Hwy. 92, sells nearly new items, including clothing, accessories, children’s toys and baby items.
