Thanksgiving 2022 and Week Twelve of Landmark Pick’em have come and gone. The Chiefs won. Bill Belichick and the Patriots got out-coached by a rookie head coach on national TV. The Ravens and Titans lost, and if you factor in that the Bills almost lost to the Detroit Lions, Week Twelve was pretty good for the Kingdom.
On the other hand, Week Twelve was bittersweet for Landmark columnist Brad Carl, who technically had the most wins in Week Twelve – but as a Landmark contributor Brad is ineligible to claim first place. Brad has often been derided for his poor Pick’em choices by other Landmark staff members. In speaking with him you get the sense that claiming first place would have been good for his soul. Brad even created his own artwork chronicling his struggles with Landmark Pick’em by becoming the singer and songwriter of the local smash jazz song “Landmark Pick’em Blues”
Sorry, Brad…. For what it is worth, some people say there is an emotional connection between art and pain. I say there is great enjoyment in watching Brad’s frustration (and so do other Landmark staffers).
