The Platte County Pirates closed the gridiron season with a 2-7 record last Friday night when the Lawson Cardinals won 21-0 in the final game to cap an 8-0 record for the season.


The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church of Platte City met on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 27. This was a work day with no program. The group cut out and made “ditty bags” for patients at the Smithville Convalescent Center.

Mr. and Mrs. Joedd Biggs announce the engagement of their daughter, Rita, to Mark Bradley Mock, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mock of Camden Point. Rita is a recent graduate of St. Joseph Beauty University, St. Joseph, Mo. and is presently employed at Guys & Gals Hair Cair Center in Platte City. Brad is a student at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph. No wedding date has been set.


Miss Teresa Kay Carter became the bride of Michael Joseph Searcy in an Oct. 8 ceremony at the First Christian Church in Platte City. The Rev. Lester Weeks officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Harlen A. Carter of Dearborn and Mrs. Joann Carter of Blue Springs. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J. Searcy of Weston. The couple, both graduates of West Platte in Weston, reside in Red Rock at Platte City.
