A quick and painless football picking contest

PRIZES FROM SEVERAL AREA ESTABLISHMENTS

Time to kick things off.

Landmark Pick’em, an NFL predictions contest brought to you by The Landmark, is back for its second year. This time there are more sponsors, more prizes and more fun.

With Week One of the NFL season kicking off this weekend, it’s time to show off your football knowledge. The first regular season game of the NFL season is Thursday night, and there’s a full slate of games on Sunday.

Landmark Pick’em is a weekly contest with sponsorship by the Tony Farr Real Estate Group.

To enter, go to https://plattecountylandmark.com/landmark-pickem/make-your-picks/

Simply choose which team you think will win each game. The Vegas point spread will be listed but that’s just for informational purposes as a helpful guide. You don’t have to make your picks against the spread.

Also, choose whether you think each game will go over or under the projected point total listed with each game. Your over/under picks are used only if needed to break a tie.

The top finishers each week will receive prizes such as gift certificates to restaurants, as well as bragging rights over Landmark players such as Ivan Foley, Chris Kamler, Guy Speckman and Brad Carl.

Weekly prizes this year will include gift certificates to local establishments such as Stone Canyon Pizza in Parkville, Ten & Two Coffee in Parkville, The Alley at the Parkville American Legion in downtown Parkville, Nick and Jake’s of Parkville, Tanner’s Sports Bar and Grill of Platte City, and KC Cattle Company.

Even if you didn’t play along last year, you can jump into the contest this season by going to https://plattecountylandmark.com/sign-up to get started and make your picks.

Tech Guy Schneider has made it super simple to join via your Google, Facebook, Apple logins, etc. and the picks are easy to make, can be done in a matter of a couple of minutes.

You’ll be going up against Landmark staffers who watch a lot of football. Should a Landmark staffer qualify for a prize, they will of course decline and the next finisher in line will take home that prize.

Weekly contest winners will be named and announced at plattecountylandmark.com and in the print edition of The Landmark.

Last year’s top placeholder in the season-long standings was Todd Shifflett of Amity, Mo., a high school football coach in King City, with Speckman and Foley right behind.

Remember, the system is very convenient in that you can make your picks right up to game time. This means you can also change your pick for any particular game right up until the time the game kicks off.
