Area live music options proving popular

Run With It, a Kansas City-based band, performed three new songs that expressed the way many people feel about the last couple of years. Lead singer Miguel Antonio wooed the crowd with his energy and had the audience singing along. The band played a wide variety of pop, funk, and rock favorites. The band's new hits, including At Least You Tried and Time, seemed to strike a chord with the audience at Zona Rosa Friday evening. Valerie Verkamp—Landmark photo

Summertime is outdoor music time for many area venues.

One free outdoor concert remains on the schedule for in front of the Platte County Courthouse, sponsored by the Platte City Friends of the Arts.

That event is set for this Saturday, Aug. 13 when Platte County’s own Steve Bankey and The Flatlanders will be performing 7-9 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Free ice cream is offered courtesy of Wells Bank. A “pop-up” car show takes place on Main Street at the same time.

Zona Rosa, the outdoor shopping complex off of I-29 at Barry Road, has been rolling out bands every Friday and Saturday night this summer as part of its Zona Rosa Summer Concerts in the Park. There is no charge to attend.

The concerts are held in Zona Rosa’s newly-revamped Central Park, which is the green space next to Bravo Italian restaurant. Each Friday and Saturday of the series, bands play from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Every Friday, attendees can enjoy burgers and brews from the Hereford House Tent.

The public is invited to bring a chair, blanket and friends to enjoy the free concerts.
