Married June 4 in the Camden Point Baptist Church yard were Dena Hawkins and Randall Z. Parsons. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hawkins, Jr. of Camden Point and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Parsons of Weston. A reception followed the ceremony in the church friendship hall, catered by Mrs. Betty Huntsman and daughters. They were assisted by Mrs. Debbie Matthys, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Linda O’Dell, sister of the groom of Raytown. The couple will be at home in Platte City.
Victoria Duncan, 84, of St. Joseph, died Sunday, July 3, 1977 at a hospital in St. Joseph following a three-week illness. She was born in Platte City, the daughter of Robert and Grace Duncan, and had lived most of her life in St. Joseph. She retired in 1960 after 47 years in the St. Joseph school system where she taught first grade. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, the St. Paul’s Guild, the Dorcas Society, the Ready Helpers Society and was a lifelong member and director of the church school. Five Platte Countians attended the 16th annual Freedom Forum June 26-30 at the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico. Students attending were Mary Lou Offutt, Dale Kisker, Deanna Heath, Brent Weatherford, and Gayle Eskridge.
