In a closed session Thursday, the Platte City Board of Aldermen voted to fire Tim Ryan, city administrator. Pearl Brown, the new mayor, declined to comment as to why Ryan was fired, and explained that “it is the policy of the city not to comment on personnel matters.”


West Platte R-2 High School has announced that Carey Costello is valedictorian and Kelly Foster, salutatorian, of the Class of 1992. Carey is the daughter of Mike and Toni Costello of Weston. Kelly is the daughter of Kenneth and Barbara Foster of Weston.

On June 1 the City of Platte City will take over the every day operation of the Youth Building. The Youth Building Committee will no longer be in charge of scheduling, renting or maintenance of this facility.


The members of the new Platte County Regional Sewer District include: Commissioner Scott Spangler, William Taft, Darrell Voles, and Karlton Nash. Nash, of Edgerton, represents the northern part of the county and the others represent the southern. A fifth member will be chosen to represent the central part of the county.


Pairings for the Class 3A District 16 baseball tournament show the Platte County Pirates, now with a record of 13-4, as the top seed for the tourney at Phil Welch Stadium.
