Man shoots, kills intruder near Barry and Green Hills

Kansas City police investigating

According to police, a Kansas City man shot and killed an alleged armed intruder inside the man’s apartment in the 3800 block of NW 85th Terrace, near Barry Road and Green Hills Road, Kansas City in Platte County.

The incident occurred Sunday, Feb. 27 about 9:30 a.m.

Kansas City police told The Landmark they were dispatched on a reported disturbance in the 3800 block of NW. Barry Rd. As officers were arriving they were notified that there was a shooting in the 3800 block of NW. 85th Terrace. They immediately responded to the shooting which was in close proximity, says Officer Donna Drake, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

Upon arrival officers made contact with the homeowner, who told police an armed intruder had broken into the residence and the homeowner shot the intruder. Officers observed the deceased victim, an adult male, inside of the residence.

Police say the homeowner is cooperating with detectives.

“We do not believe there are any other suspects involved,” Drake said.

Detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene, canvassed for witnesses and processed the scene for evidence.
