30 Years Ago–March 6, 1992

Rob Williams and Robin Losso, of Edgerton, are the parents of a baby boy named Baron Miles Williams. He was born on Feb. 24, 1992 at Spelman Memorial Hospital.


The race for alderman from ward one in the Platte City election will be between Dennis Meyer and Roger Baskett.


The Platte County Commission Thursday approved a motion to establish a Tax Increment Financing Commission.


Chris Shanks, a Pirate football player, signed to play for Benedictine College in a brief ceremony Thursday at the Platte County R-3 High School. Present were his parents, Clifford and Karen Shanks; Craig Schuler, Benedictine recruiting coordinator; and Greg Jaros, Pirate defensive coach.


The Pirates closed out regular season play under first year coach Frank Wheeler with a 72-54 triumph over Savannah at home Friday night. It was the final home game for six Platte County seniors: CJ Fulk, Philip Barry, Tim King, Pedro Sarmiento, Keith Gilliland and Calvin Beard.


Buckler’s Barber Shop is scheduled to open for business. It will be operated by Joy Ferill and co-owned by her husband-to-be, Don Buckler.
