Matt and Stephanie Snook, Camden Point, proudly showed off their son, Westin Ray, who was the first baby of the new year in Leavenworth. The baby was born at Saint John Hospital at 9:35 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2007.


In his second week of duty as an elected official, State Rep. Jason Grill of southern Platte County was honored by his fellow freshman legislators by being elected to the post of treasurer for the Missouri House of Representatives for the Freshman Caucus.

A 25-year veteran of Parkville City Hall’s work force is stepping down from her post. Barbara Lance has decided it is time for her to slow down and spend more time doing what she calls “things I want to get done on my own.” The clerk position was officially awarded to the previous assistant city clerk, Claudia Willhite, at Tuesday night’s alderman meeting. Willhite has been instructed from Lance the last three years where they shared duties as a team.


Multiple thieves attempted to burglarize Classic Auto Sales last Wednesday night in Tracy. Around 8:30 p.m. the suspects were caught in the act when Hank Martens, a salesman and brother of owner Tom Martens, noticed the outdoor lights were turned off and decided to inspect the business.


Officials say it has been a big year for the two Platte County Community Centers.
