30 Years Ago–November 1, 1991

Students at Platte City Elementary School got to see a live golden eagle Wednesday. The eagle was brought to the elementary and intermediate schools by Scott W. Campbell. This golden eagle weighs 15 pounds and has a seven foot wingspan and will live 35-40 years.


The Platte City Board of Aldermen Monday night approved an ordinance to prohibit smoking in any building owned by the city and assessing a fine of $25 to $100 on any person violating the ordinance.


Platte County’s Lady Pirates wrapped up their 10th straight KCI Conference volleyball championship last week by defeating Lathrop in a showdown for the title. It was the fourth year Platte County and Lathrop have met with the league title on the line and each time the Pirates have come out on top.


Mark Shanks and Karissa Howe were crowned king and queen at the North Platte homecoming.


After the blasting the Savannah Savages 49-14 at home Friday night, the Platte County Pirates head into the meat of their district schedule with a game this week at Maryville, a game that promises to be more competitive than the one against Savannah.
