A threat to “shoot up” the Park Hill South High School has resulted in the arrest of two juveniles, authorities said this week.
The Platte County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate. Two juvenile suspects were taken into custody Sunday night by the Platte County Juvenile Office. Names of juveniles are not released by authorities in criminal cases.
Major Erik Holland with the sheriff’s department says authorities received a call at 7:12 p.m. Sunday regarding a threat by two students to “shoot up Park Hill South High School.”
The reporting party was a parent who had overheard the two juveniles discussing this with a third individual who does not appear to be involved with the threat, Holland told The Landmark.
“There is no active threat to the school at this time,” Holland said on Monday.
Park Hill South High School Principal Kerrie Herren communicated to school patrons on Monday that “there are significant legal and criminal consequences for threatening a school and while we cannot talk about any specific student’s discipline, we can tell you that we have policies that prohibit threats, and the consequences for any student violating these policies are very serious and could include long-term suspension of expulsion.”
Park Hill South High School is located at 4500 River Park Drive in Riverside.
