And what a week it was. . .

We had more than 100 people sign up for Landmark Pickem in the first week and the total number of individual picks made by players was in excess of 2,588 (head to head + over/under picks). By Monday morning the average correct pick ratio was just north of 52% AND it was clear the Monday Night Football contest would end up being the game to determine the winner. (We even had a request to create a mini-league for players who live in the Thousand Oaks development in Parkville).

And the winner, after a wild and crazy finish to Monday Night Madness between the Raiders and the Ravens was…. Landmark publisher Ivan Foley. Undisputed. That’s right, no tiebreakers were needed to determine this week’s champ, even though Tech Man Schneider has developed a detailed magic potion for breaking ties in our contest (if you’re bored, see the rules page for all the gory details).

The winners for Week 1 are (in order):

  1. Ivan Foley – 13/16 picks correct
  2. Tom Taulbee – 12/16 picks correct with 17 tie-breaking points earned
  3. Cmmidget – 12/16 picks correct with 9 tie-breaking points earned

(Tie-breaking points are awarded like this: players will receive additional points if their pick wins “against the spread,” one point for each correct over/under pick. Remember, the over/under picks are optional for entry but we encourage it to give you an edge in any tie-breaker scenarios)

Listen, guys and gals, Foley won and the victory is going to his already oversized head. Word is he’ll be bragging about it on this week’s episode of Landmark Live on Thursday night, 6 p.m. at Platte County Landmark on Facebook.

So you’re gonna have to step it up a notch.

In the spirit of giving and whatnot, champ Foley has announced he will turn down this week’s top prize of a $20 gift certificate to Nick and Jake’s and instead let the second place finisher enjoy $20 worth of food and fun from our friends at Nick and Jake’s in Parkville. Congrats to Tom Taulbee.

This means the second place prize is then being passed on to the third place winner. So, congrats to Cmmidget, who gets a $5 gift card to Ten & Two Coffee Bar in Parkville. Note: Tom Taulbee and Cmmidget, please reach out to The Landmark by sending an email to ivan@plattecountylandmark.com and we’ll get your prize out to you.

Thank you, players. And now, back to the contest. . .
