Scheduled to open spring of 2022

Whataburger, a fast food option specializing in hamburgers, has confirmed it is expanding to Kansas City’s Northland.

A spokesperson for the San Antonio-based company confirmed it plans to open a restaurant at Metro North Crossing, which is located near U.S. Highway 169 and Barry Road, at the site of the former Metro North Mall.

Metro North Crossing officials announced they are in final negotiations for a freestanding Whataburger restaurant with drive-thru that would open on the site of the former Firestone building in spring 2022.

It will be Whataburger’s sixth planned location in the Kansas City metro.

Construction for Whataburger restaurants is already underway at sites in Overland Park, Lee’s Summit, Independence, and Blue Springs. These locations are expected to open at various times this coming fall.

When completed, Whataburger will join destinations such as T-Shotz at Metro North Crossing. T-Shotz is a golf and entertainment company that opened in October.
