Saturday, July 1 will be the 14th annual Camden Point Freedom Festival. The Freedom Festival is a community-wide Independence Day celebration in Camden Point with many activities planned for the day. The schedule of events includes the Little Missy/Master Freedom Fest Contest at 3 p.m. at the Camden Point Baptist Church, the annual parade at 5:30 p.m., music, games and good food will begin at 6:30 with a huge fireworks display at 10 p.m.


Riverside Board of Aldermen has authorized the company Patti Banks Associates to provide additional design for the Line Creek Trail project.

Dearborn’s city leaders have voted to pay the county $6,500 or less for materials to chip and seal the city’s portion of Masonic Drive, an east-west thoroughfare that can be found just south of the cemetery at Dearborn. The road is schedule for some repair by the Platte County Public Works Department and the county had offered the city a chance to partner to make the project more complete. The unique situation is that the county is responsible for a portion of Masonic Drive that is sandwiched between some city portions of the road. Dearborn Mayor Frank Downing said the county has told him the project could be performed as early as next week.


George and Bettie Durand have observed their 60th wedding anniversary.
