Collection of household hazardous waste was being performed on Saturday, June 5 at Platte Ridge Park north of Platte City on Hwy. 371. A long line of vehicles lined up ready to drop off things like paint, lawn and garden chemicals, batteries, automotive fluids, fluorescent light bulbs, household cleaners and much more. The event is brought to you by the Mid America Regional Council (MARC) solid waste management district, in conjunction with various local governmental agencies. The demand for disposal was so large that some residents reported the time to get through the line from start to finish was anywhere from one to two hours.
