A resident of Platte County for 26 years. R.M. (Bob) Hutchison has filed as a Republican candidate for the office of sheriff of Platte County, declaring that the voters, more than ever before, deserve a choice. He has been a deputy sheriff in Platte County for the past seven years.


Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Morris of Dearborn announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Susan, to Ron Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Baker of Platte City. The wedding will be June 5.

Rev. Eugene McFarland read the marriage vows in a formal wedding at Barry Church May 1 1976 for Miss Debbie Troutman and Robert Clevenger.


The hair salon formerly known as “Dorothy’s Beauty Salon” has been renamed to “The Hair Den.” The business is under operation by Stephanie Kyle, Linda Cain, Peggy Carter and Kathy Brubeck.


Bill Johnson, the local barber of Edgerton, closed his shop this past Saturday. Mr. Johnson has operated a shop in Edgerton since 1967.


There will be an appreciation dinner to honor Max Hunt, who has served the past 11 years on the Platte County R-3 School Board. A pot luck dinner will be held on Wednesday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school. Bring your own table service. Tea and coffee will be provided. Everyone is invited to attend.
