Years in the making, this key trail connection joins E.H. Young Riverfront Park in Riverside with English Landing Park in Parkville along the Missouri River. Over the past several years, Platte County has been working with city staff to complete the connection. Because the trail is located within Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) easements, Platte County and the city had to obtain permits to allow the trail to be within their easement. BNSF required a fence between the tracks and the trail as part of the permit. The Missouri Riverfront Trail is a hiking and biking path that extends from E.H. Young Park across the Quindaro Bend levee to Burlington Creek and now extends into English Landing Park. It will give direct access to several parks in the Northland, such as Renner Brenner Park and Frank Vaydik Park.
