Mr. and Mrs. William Gregory Turner of Platte City announce the birth of their seven pound, nine ounce son, William Douglas, on Sunday, April 11, 1976 at Spelman Memorial Hospital. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Edwards of Platte City and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Turner of Kansas City.


Mr. and Mrs. Wayne E. Hetzel announce the engagement of their daughter, Elise, to Michael Wayne Maberry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Maberry of Wheeling, Mo. A June wedding is planned.

The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shanks was celebrated on Wednesday, March 24, 1976. Their children and grandchildren honored them with a seven o’clock dinner at Nickerson’s in Platte City.


Jack Coots has submitted his resignation to the Platte County R-3 School Board of Education. He led the five candidates in total votes in the April 6 election for the two vacancies on the board.


The induction of new members into the Platte County R-3 High School’s National Honor Society was held Friday, April 9 at the school. This year 26 new members were brought into the club, bringing the total number to 52.
