Politics and health

EDITOR:

Regarding the March 10 letter to the editor: “Politics doesn’t belong in public health.” I agree with the title of this article 100%.

The community doesn’t need a politician who has unsuccessfully ran as county commissioner, and now wants to run for the Platte County Health Department Board. We do not want a politician fixing our cars transmission or a commissioner selecting a chemo regimen to beat granny’s cancer. That’s why it would make since to have an individual on the health department with real world medical experience, a doctor that has medical training in pediatrics, infectious disease, critical care, and public health. Dr. Jeffrey Kingsley has these credentials, as he currently works as a neonatal and pediatric hospitalist physician taking care of ill babies in a level 2 neonatal intensive care unit, and currently serves as a board member for the Platte County Board of Services for the Developmentally Disabled.

Please vote for Dr. Jeffrey Kingsley on April 6 to be part of the Platte County Health Department board.
